Getting Started
How Do I Connect My Launch Monitor?
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth and tap "Scan for Devices."
- Make sure your Garmin Approach R10 is powered on and in pairing mode.
- Once detected, tap it to connect.
- The status indicator turns blue when the device is connected.
How Do I Add A Batter?
- Open the Batters tab and tap + Create New Batter.
- Enter the batter's name, age or division, and an optional profile photo.
Each batter has their own statistics, personal records, and session history.
How Do I Start A Session?
- Tap the + button in the center of the bottom navigation.
- Pick a training mode, choose your batters and delivery method, then tap Start.
Swings are detected automatically by your connected launch monitor.
How Do I Switch Between Batters?
During a session, tap the batter name at the top to open the batter switcher and select who's hitting. In Home Run Derby, batters rotate automatically at the end of each round.
Training Modes
What Is A Quick Session?
A Quick Session is open-ended batting practice with no set structure — just start swinging and every swing is recorded. It's the fastest way to get live metrics without configuring a program.
What Is Structured Practice?
Structured Practice runs a program built from sequenced blocks — each block can set its own delivery method and swing count. It's designed for repeatable, goal-oriented practice with a defined plan.
How Does Home Run Derby Work?
- Select Home Run Derby when starting a new session.
- Choose your batters and a round format: Outs Mode, Swing Mode, or Timed Mode.
Batters rotate after each round and the leaderboard tracks home runs across the derby.
What Counts As A Home Run?
A home run is a swing whose projected distance exceeds the fence distance set for the batter. Fence distance is configured per batter based on their field level.
What Are Delivery Methods?
Delivery methods describe how the ball is fed to the hitter: Tee, Soft Toss, Front Toss, Live Pitch, and Machine. The delivery is stored with each swing so you can filter and compare results by feed type.
What Does Run It Back Do?
Run It Back starts a brand-new session using the exact same setup — same batters, delivery method, and program or derby format — so you can immediately repeat a session without reconfiguring it.

SESSIONS
Where Can I View Past Sessions?
All recorded sessions live in the Sessions tab. Tap any session to see its full summary, per-batter breakdowns, spray charts, and individual swing data.
Can I Rename A Session?
- Open the session from the Sessions tab.
- Tap the session name in the summary to edit it, then save.
Can I Edit A Session?
- Open the session and tap a swing row to delete individual swings.
- You can also remove batters from the session from the summary page.
Can I Delete A Session?
- Open the session summary.
- Choose Delete Session and confirm — this permanently removes the session and its swings.
How Do Group Sessions Work?
A group session records multiple batters in one sitting. Each batter keeps their own swing log, averages, and records, while the session summary shows a combined view and lets you compare batters side by side.
METRICS
What Metrics Are Tracked?
Phantom tracks Exit Velocity, Distance, Launch Angle, Bat Speed, and Direction for every swing, plus derived values like Consistency Gap, hit-type classification, and personal records.
What Is Exit Velocity?
Exit Velocity is the speed of the ball off the bat, measured in MPH. It's the primary indicator of how hard a batter is hitting.
What Is Distance?
Distance is the projected carry of the ball in feet, estimated from exit velocity and launch angle. It's what determines whether a swing counts as a home run.
What Is Launch Angle?
Launch Angle is the vertical angle of the ball off the bat, in degrees. Mid-range launch angles typically produce the ideal line-drive and fly-ball contact.
What Is Bat Speed?
Bat Speed is how fast the bat is traveling through the hitting zone, in MPH. It's benchmarked against the batter's field level in their attribute rating.
What Is Direction?
Direction is the horizontal spray angle of the batted ball — pull, center, or opposite field. It's used to build the spray chart for each session.
What Is Consistency Gap?
The Consistency Gap compares your best and average exit velocity. A smaller gap means you're repeating hard contact more often, rather than relying on a few big swings.
What Are Hit Types?
Each swing is classified by projected result — Home Run, Triple, Double, Single, or Out — based on distance and launch characteristics relative to the batter's field level.
How Are Averages Calculated?
Averages are computed across all recorded swings in the relevant scope — a single session, or a batter's full history. Deleted swings are excluded from the calculation.
What Are Personal Records?
Personal Records are a batter's all-time bests — such as top exit velocity, longest distance, and fastest bat speed — carried across every session that batter has logged.
Devices
What Launch Monitors Are Supported?
Phantom currently supports the Garmin Approach R10 over Bluetooth Low Energy. The device must be powered on and within range to connect.
My Launch Monitor Won't Connect.
- Confirm the R10 is charged, powered on, and in pairing mode.
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on in Settings, then tap Scan for Devices again.
- Move the device closer and away from other Bluetooth signals if it still isn't detected.
Why Aren't My Swings Recording?
- Make sure the status indicator is blue, confirming an active connection.
- Check that the launch monitor is positioned per Garmin's placement guidance.
- Reconnect the device from Settings → Bluetooth if swings still aren't detected.
Why Are My Distances Different Outdoors?
Distance is a projection based on exit velocity and launch angle. Environmental factors like wind, altitude, and temperature outdoors can make real carry differ from the indoor projection.
How Does Apple Watch Integration Work?
When Send Metrics to Watch is enabled, your Apple Watch displays live Exit Velocity, Average, and Best metrics during sessions, and Watch Haptics can alert you on each swing.
Settings
What Does Voice Readout Do?
Voice Readout announces key metrics — like exit velocity and distance — out loud after each swing through your device speaker, so you can keep hitting without looking at the screen.
What Do Phone Haptics Do?
Phone Haptics give your phone a vibration pulse when a swing is detected, providing quiet feedback that a swing was recorded.
What Do Watch Haptics Do?
Watch Haptics send a tap to your Apple Watch on each swing during a session, so you get on-wrist confirmation without needing sound.
How Do I Change The Appearance?
- Open Settings and find the Appearance control under Preferences.
- Choose Light, Dark, or System to follow your device setting.
How Do I Update Phantom?
Phantom updates through your device's app store. Keep automatic updates on to always run the latest version — the current version is shown at the bottom of Settings.
